Hello I have a few questions about NCSAs
First off, How many on average can a cadet get in their career?  Next does NCC count as an NCSA.  And lastly is does Johnson Flight academy count as an NCSA?

..and a premature announcement:

I believe Johnson is considered one of the "new" Regional Flight Academies which are being run in place of National Flight Academies now.

As such, I think it >might< now qualify as an NCSA.  My guess is that the info on the NCSA page predates that change.

Best to check with them direct.

Had a cadet come back from JFA, he was told they earn the NCSA ribbon.

My son was there this year. I made it to the banquet. VERY cool all around.
He too was told it earned him a NCSA ribbon and he has a Personnel Action indicating the same.

He was also told that it would hit eservices once the bugs were all ironed out. That part hasn't happened yet.

They must have changed their minds or gotten an update from national as this was on their website

Senior members planning to attend Johnson Flight Academy will apply in eServices with utility application Registration and Payment after 1 December 2012. Go to E-Services and click the "Registration and Payment" link on the left hand side of the screen. As you follow the instructions for entering your request, you will also get to check (and correct if necessary) your address, contact information, and personal characteristics that National Headquarters (NHQ) has on file. Johnson Flight Academy is not a NCSA.
Registration will be conducted at Eastern Illinois University's Stevenson Lounge from 1600-1800 on 7 June (week1) and 14 June (week 2).  Dinner will be provided at 1800 and RST begins at 1900. If you miss RST you will be required to attend a makeup session prior to participation at the academy.
Please notify Lt Col Rick Gale dates you will attend if not planning to spend the full week.
Most rooms are single occupancy two-bed dorm rooms.
Meals will be subsidized.  Adult participant cost is $5.50 for breakfast, $5.75 for lunch and $8.00 for dinner. (Note these are 2012 prices and subject to change)
You need to complete OPSEC, CPPT, ground handling training, ORM Basic, and the CAP Basic Safety Course prior to arrival.
Pilots need to be current prior to arrival at JFA.  All flight data must be entered into and validated in eServices.
You will be issued one T-shirt and pair of Shorts. Let Lt Col Gale know your sizes immediately.  If you wish to purchase additional uniforms, please advise two months prior to the start of the academy..
If you have any questions concerning senior involvement, please email Lt Col Gale at rgale1@aol.com.

Also from the top of that same page:
"Application Procedures as of 3 January 2013"

The announcement was made at the end of the banquet as they began handing out awards/certificates and they stated the CSA status had only recently been attained.

Exactly the opposite happened for people only signed up for only a short course at NESA, they were left off the participation letter.  Unless they amend that means no NCSA ribbon, oh well the training was well worth it and GIIEP has 8 new operators at least it affects only a few as most people signed up for more than just the one 3 day course

Does NESA have a definition of participation?  If not, I would imagine you can get that corrected.

Please email the details to me at mlong@nesa.cap.gov   We should be able to get this straightened out for you.
