Title: ORM briefing with cadets present
Post by: Dutchboy on January 17, 2009, 09:29:15 AM
Does anyone have a ORM briefing that works well with cadets. We want to make sure it is getting through to them and they pay attention. Please email me any materials, power point presentations (with notes if possible), videos in WMV format. Thanks!

Do you mean more of a safety class regarding ORM, or an actual ORM briefing for a mission/activity?

an overview of it so they get an idea of what it is.

Here it is.  Fresh from the AF even!

There are tons of ORM material out there.  If you want more of a CAP twist on it, you can replace the Words "Air Force" for "Civil Air Patrol".

Good luck with your briefing!

^^ Good brief. So clear even senior members may understand it

A year or so ago when I was active with a squadron, we did a briefing where we explained ORM, etc. and then broke everyone into groups. All groups had both cadets and seniors. We assigned each of them a CAP activity (air show support, cadet bivouac, o-ride day, drill team practice, ES training, etc.) and had them "rack and stack" risks for the event, etc. Then at the end, each group did a short presentation on the activity, potential risks, and how to mitigate them. Everyone seemed to respond positively, and it was great to get some of the cadets/seniors time to get to know one another who normally wouldn't interact.

ORM is very important for cadets as wel as Senior members. ORM is also a good leadership teaching tool for cadets.
