I found myself doing some research today and ran across a number of links between the CAP and Oswald, including that David H Byrd owned the school book depository.

Has anyone else read about the connections between Oswald and CAP?

What's up monkeys?

Yep. It's been discussed on several CAP forums, including here.

This link will give you a bit of history on Byrd. He was one of "our" founders and his relationship to the School Book Depository makes the whole conspiracy thing a little more interesting.

Oh... CRAP. Was that a Black Van? Gotta Go..........

Hoorah LAWG!  We produce amazing cadets.  I wonder what my claim to fame will be.  Hopefully, it's nothing like his.

I think what your missing is the connection between Oswald and Byrd. Byrd was one of our founders. He also owned the Dallas School Book Depository. Likewise, David Ferrie, one time CAP Squadron commander, was linked to Oswald,Byrd, the CIA, and organized crime. There are even allegations that the CAP of the 1960's was a recruiting ground for the CIA. It's very difficult to find any verifiable documentation about these things. It's as if there has been some big government cover up....

The Mitchell wasn't introduced until 1964; by that time Oswald was already fertilizing a patch of ground in a Fort Worth cemetery.

This is true, but before the Mitchell there was the Certificate of Proficiency.  I don't know that he ever earned that.

Maybe the guys in that van know, I'll ask th... AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!

Wait, Wait.....I am confused, KACH shot Oswald?  Then what happened to Kennedy, I thought he shot J Edgar Hoover, who in turn shot Batman.  Wow....guess I should have stayed awake in history class.

Has it been officialy decided here that CAP was a training and recruitment program for the CIA.  If so.....perhpas the Black Van is only visiting members to recruit them to be overseas spies.  Wow.....I hope the van comes to my house tonight!

IIRC, at the time Oswald was a cadet, marksmanship training was part of the cadet program, however, due to his actions, we are restrained from offering other than very limited weapon training and definitely no paint ball activities.. Such a shame as I have heard many a senior member mention that they would like to draw down on some cadets with paint ball guns.  (On the other hand, I have heard many a cadet member mention that they would love to draw down on some senior members with any kind of gun).. This is all tongue in cheek and no, I do not want to lose my commission over anything I have posted here..and since that is the case, the following signatory info is false and not at all true, but copied from some decent CAP member that did not give his permission or acceptance of it usage..does the appearance of a black helicopter signify anything more than the usual black van??

I think some Texas cadets stopped us from lifting weights too. Ok, that was mean.

The Brazilian Civil Air Patrol is driving the Black Van.

Who was the character played by Joe Pecci<sp?> in the JFK movie? You know, when he said something like "...he was a part of my Civil Air Patrol unit..." in a real thick Louisianna accent. Was that David Byrd?

Joe Pesci played David Ferrie, according to Jim Garrison a co-conspirator in the plot to assassinate President Kennedy.

Actually, I think Jim Garrison was a CAP cadet, too.  he's the one who noted that a whole bunch of CIA types who denied knowing Oswald were actually cadets with him.

Don't worry about the Black Van.  Keep checking your brake fluid.  Garrison's was empty as a politician's promise when he crashed.
