What?  You record time from the smallest to the largest increment?  Preposterous!

It's higher math, calculus level. "e" is more closely the answer to everything than 42 ever thought about being.

Ah, now I know why I didn't get it. I'm still doing Algebra I and basic geometry. Not quite ready for calculus yet.

e is ome of the very basic numbers in the universe...it appears just about everywhere in nature, and the "base e logarith" is commonly called a "natural logarithm", hence my comment that it was the most natural day to wait for.

"Although often considered as a pejorative, the term is also used self-referentially without malice or as a source of pride. Its meaning has evolved to connote "someone who is interested in a subject (usually intellectual or complex) for its own sake."

Although I was told it was someone who bites the heads off chickens.

"Geeks were sometimes alcoholics or drug addicts, and could be paid with liquor – especially during Prohibition – or with narcotics."

^LOL there ok i wouldn't trust their stuff because people can go in and change it

SarDragon

Wikipedia is a good first source. The fact that it can be changed is a two-edged sword. Good because things can be easily updated; bad because the changes can be malicious. I've found that the entries most prone to vandalism are those about people and controversial subjects. Most entries are perfectly fine.

Teachers at high schools and Colleges, Librarians all try to steer students away from Wikipedia. In fact, when doing research, Librarians and teachers teach students not to use encyclopedias other than to get an initial understanding of a concept, subject, etc. and turn to more scholarly sources.

In fact, what we teach about Wikipedia is that it can be changed very easily.

A bad student uses Wiki. A good student uses wiki for the footnotes. :)

a2capt

I won't even use it for footnotes.

To me, it's a community bulletin board.

With the way edits are retained, one can see the "conversation" occurring via edits, and then there's the 'talk' section where those edits are debat, er, argued out.

Using for footnotes, I'll use it to point me to other sources (via the footnotes)...don't think I'd ever cite it as a source for anything...heck, I can make it say the sky is green if I want to!

Combat_Comm

I've used it as a starting point for research Then on to bigger better info sources from there.. not through their links but by learning terms to use as keywords.
