He was a Life Member of the Iowa Funeral Directors Association.

Warren and Connie were very instrumental in enriching the Columbus Junction Community and its citizens. They were the first two of three EMTA's in Louisa County and received an EMT state association honor for their service.  Together they established the County's First Responders of Conesville, Letts and Grandview while providing all the education and equipment for each responder.  They also spearheaded EMT-A and Q.R.S. educational classes and served on the Southeast Iowa Emergency Medical Services Council and Louisa County Emergency Medical Services Board.  Warren was on the Building Board, and member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, assisted in initiating the Columbus Community Swimming Pool and was the primary visionary and founders of the Colonial Manor/Colonial Estates, in which he was President until he was 91 years of age. He and Connie assisted in establishing, and were very active in the Cedar Crest Country Club. He was a member of the American Legion Post #100, V.F.W. of Riverside, Masonic Lodge and was a member and Past President of the Lions Club of Columbus Junction. He also sat on the Columbus City Cemetery Board for many years. He loved flying (a passion shared with three of his sons) and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol of Burlington, Iowa. Warren loved to travel the world and going to Africa, providing for a Kenyan child to attend high school and later sponsoring her through college.  He retired from the funeral home in 1989.  He and Connie bagged sand bags during the 2008 flood, started a week long food kitchen for people who could not get out of town.  The rest of his retirement he enjoyed coffee with 'the boys' and living and loving life with his beloved wife.
