Bruce Leland Marxsen, 66, of Lincoln, passed away on May 17, 2018. Born in Fremont, on July 9, 1951, to Leland and Eunice (Seckman) Marxsen. Bruce worked as a safety specialist at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and Nebraska Heart Institute and prior to that worked as global technical director of Scientific Affairs for Clearstone Central Laboratories/Celerion, however he is known for so much more. Bruce was a lab inspector for the College of American Pathologists, a member of Southwood Lutheran Church, the Civil Air Patrol for 40 years, achieving the rank of colonel, for years he assisted at a variety of events with the Medical Reserve Corps., he loved to volunteer his time as a judge for the LPS science fair and he was a former TeamMates mentor. Bruce was a man of many interests such as emergency preparedness, military history, sports, cooking, reading, watching movies, anything to do with the outdoors and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Family members include his wife, Carol (Bachmann) Marxsen; son, Cale (Lisa) Marxsen; daughter, Jamie (Nathan) Frerichs; brothers, Larry (Vera) and Craig (JoAnne); sisters, Maxine (Ron) Poulas and Gail (Dennis) Pitzl; mother, Eunice; grandchildren, Evelyn, Cecilia and Graham Frerichs, baby Marxsen on the way and numerous extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his father.
