Title: Just what is wrong with polls?
Post by: RiverAux on August 09, 2007, 08:57:44 PM
I guess I don't understand why some folks get mad about polls...the only difference is that we get some hard data on the pulse of the CAPTalk Community rather than just the opinions of the 20 or so folks (including me) who tend to dominate the discussions.  If you don't care what the poll numbers are, you can ignore them and participate in the discussion that takes place in any poll thread anyway.

Polls lose their luster when they ask silly stupid ("Ninja vs Florist") or repetitive ("How about this uniform, or this uniform, or this uniform, or this uniform, or...?") questions.

Sometimes, the core question is good but the options aren't well thought-out or are too granular to be useful:

"Should Wing Commanders be:
1. Elected by members,
2. Age < 55,
3. Pilots,
4. Good at volleyball,
5. Blond,
6. Retired,
7. High School Graduates?"

hey hey hey,

The ninja vs PIRATE Poll was meant as a joke from the post that polls are over done AND to break up the tension from all of these heated debates, we have been having... Nothing more,  Nothing less just for fun.
