Walter Johnson age 79, of Chuckey, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 7, 2023. He had a very caring and generous nature, often quietly aiding others and support to several organizations. He always said "How do you leave this world being great unless you help others be great" and supported others who wanted to further their education. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rhonda Johnson, daughters, Lisa Johnson-Neas of Greeneville and Glenda Fox Ogle (Steven), of Sevierville, and son Tim Johnson (Amy) of Chuckey. Grandchildren, Joslyn Livingston, Brycen Fox Raney, Lukas Raney, Jenna Raney, and Maylee Ogle Sister Marie Johnson Shelton (Carl) and brother Wayne Johnson (Jeanette) Sister in laws Juanita Kirby (Max) and Pat Stern (Doug) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents Newman (Boge) and Lanore Johnson, mother and father-in-law Glenn and Cecil McCarter, and son- in-law Steve Neas. He was a lay minister for the Methodist Church and attended Ebenezer Methodist Church. Walter was an entrepreneur, loved a good game of golf and playing Rook with his friends. He was an accomplished pilot and loved working on his farm. He took pride in his vegetable garden and his fruit orchard sharing produce with many. He was chairman of the board of Heritage Community Bank, a board member of Tusculum University, Junior Achievement and was very active in the Gideons organization, President of Gideons Greeneville and East Camp. He was active in the Civil Air Patrol.
