Mr. Clive Delmont Goodwin, Jr. age 95 of Youngsville, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Duke Raleigh Hospital. He was born on September 4, 1926 in Egg Harbor, New Jersey to Clive D. Goodwin Sr. and Stella (Hartley) Goodwin. He was educated in New jersey and in 1945 enlisted in the United States Air Force.

He was a flight instructor for a few years in late '40's. Owned a Texaco station in early to middle '50's and also at that time was a mechanic on a stock car that was raced in New York State. In late '50's he worked for General Electric and transferred to Trinidad for three years and was involved with maintenance on the radar tracking system for Cape Canaveral missle launches. In Early '60s he transferred to Turkey for 4 years and continued with maintenance on the Air Force base's radar system. In the middle to late '60's he was involved with General Electric's sonar radio system development on Cayuga Lake, New York. During the early to mid '70's he transferred to the island of Shemya in the Aleutian Islands for 3 years. In the late '70's he and his wife moved to Youngsville, NC where he and his wife literally built their home from the ground up. He was then employed by Athey Products as a purchasing agent until retirement in 1991. He was a member of The Civil Air Patrol in New York State and North Carolina for many years and was active as a licensed pilot from the age of 14. He was an excellent mechanic, carpenter, plumber and electrician all his life. Upon retirement, and was instrumental in taking on helping with building his son's vacation home on Great Exuma, Bahamas.
