James C. "Jake" Lucas, Jr.,79, of Lucama, NC died peacefully on March 19, 2022, after a brief illness.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 24th at 11:00 at Lucama United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Jake was born on January 16, 1943 to J.C. and Irene Lucas of Lucama.  After graduating from Lucama High School, Jake farmed in the Lucama community. Jake and Peggy Moye were married in 1985. Jake's love of his wife, family, and farm were the only things that exceeded his love of racing.  He is remembered as a quiet, kind, and selfless person who lit up at the mention of NASCAR.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving family members include his devoted wife of 36 years, Peggy Moye Lucas, daughter Kimberly Brooks and husband Jonathan of Pinehurst, NC, son Glen Clark and wife Zorina of King, NC, and sister-in-law Brenda Gay and husband Bob of Clayton, NC.  Grandchildren include Savannah Clark, Cameron Clark, Nolan Clark, Josh Brooks, and Jackson Brooks. Additionally, Jake is survived by many cousins, including Hal Lucas and wife Karen of Surfside Beach, SC and Ann Boswell and husband Jeff of Greenville, NC.
