Capt. William F. Duval
Shasta Composite Squadron 126
California Wing

William 'Bill' Francis Duval

Passed on Sunday 10/31/21 at 8:30am at home with his family and friends with him. He was born on 5/7/39 in Cass Lake, Minnesota on a Chippewa Indian Reservation, the oldest of 9 boys born to Wm. D 'Buck' Duval and Mathilda 'Tillie' Angeline Bellcourt (Duval). He is predeceased by brothers Michael, Douglas, and Dennis Duval. Bill came to Shasta County, CA originally in 1951. He was in the first graduating class of Enterprise High School in 1957.

He graduated from California State University, Chico with a BS in Electrical Engineering in June 1963. While at Chico he married Sandra J McKay in 1962, son Mark was born in 1963, and his son, Scott was born in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1965, while Bill was employed with General Electric.

Bill and family returned to the Redding area in 1967 for his appreciation of the natural beauty of NCalifornia and his love of family, hunting and fishing. He worked for Industrial Electric Service Co, as Branch Manager. The company serviced the lumber industry, power generation plants, municipalities, and utilities such as PG+E and Shasta Dam. Bill achieved his pilot's license in 1973 (with subsequent commercial, multi-engine, seaplane, and instrument rating) allowing him to fly commercially and as a search and rescue pilot for Civil Air Patrol.

Bill has two adult grandson's, George and William, who are the sons of Scott Duval. Scott's longtime companion, Erica Clinton, a trained end of life caregiver and medical assistant, aided Bill's transition. Bill has two step grandchildren Dominique and Dakota France and 3 step-great grandchildren.

Bill spent his last 16 years having adventures with his longtime companion, Suann Prigmore. They were both pilots, traveled around the US on Harley Davidsons into their 80's, enjoyed RV camping, birding, and square dancing. Suann has two sons, John and Patrick Prigmore, and Bill has two step grandchildren, Nathan and Brian, from John and Donna Prigmore.

Bill lived a rich, fulfilling life, enjoying nature and people he loved and laughed with. Suann was tireless in caring for Bill during his long illness and the family is most appreciative of her.
