Title: MER SAR College '05
Post by: Horn229 on October 12, 2005, 05:29:46 PM
Well, it's this weekend, and as of last night I've somehow gotten roped into staffing the GTM course. So can I expect to see anyone else there?

Safety is a major emphasis here, particularly from Col Glass.  One aircrew is already about to be grounded for flying in with less than adequate fuel reserves.  I've got about an inch high pile of papers for safety briefings and ORMs.

The Ground Branch is incredible.  4 primary instructors (all Master GT Badge holders) and 2 assistant instructors.  We've got about 73 students, all of whom (except the advanced course) are completely wet behind the ears.  At the end of SAR College, MER Should be looking at a much larger ground force.  As Lt Wiggs put it "all it takes is one person to come back from one of these activities to spark a whole squadron into participating in ES."

Will provide another update tomorrow night if I have time.
