A recent trend in reporting posts has been for users to make comments along the lines of "XYZ Thread got locked, but this is allowed to continue?"

These comments are unnecessary and will only serve to put you on the bad side of the moderation staff as somebody simply whining about their pet topic being shut down.  If something does not get edited, locked or removed when it should, odds are the moderation team simply has not had a chance to read that thread yet.  That is why the report button is on the forums, to bring inappropriate posts to our attention, not to complain about a perceived inequity by the moderation staff.

Another recent trend has been using the report button to lodge complaints about a topic getting locked before somebody could respond back to "defend themselves."  This will not get you far either.  Such retaliatory posts are exactly the reason that we lock those threads.  While what was said was said, we do not want to allow further fuel to be added to the fire.  Somebody has to get the last word in the end, whether it be right, wrong, or indifferent.  By locking the thread, whatever has already been said will slowly fade away into the depths of CAPTalk history.

If you do have any issue with a specific moderator's actions, please use the PM feature on the forums.  The report button sends and e-mail to all moderators and can clog up inboxes with unecessary reports.  Thank you for your help with this.
