Show us a reason or requirement for us to do the extra training.  The agencies we "work" for haven't requested it, so what is the "need"?
We have many other things to do with our limited "volunteer" time. So please justify why we need to do yet another training requirement.

That's the funny thing is we have members that want this training and would like to participate at that higher level.  You call it "Another Training Requirement"  That's the funny thing...being a member of Civil Air Patrol there is no Mandatory ES training.  Level one stuff is Mandatory...Safety training is mandatory...among other minor things...but no mandatory ES training.

To be brutally honest, the problem is not so much with the members holding high ES ratings, but rather the rank and file, who do not understand that as an ICS organization, we can not just "self deploy" to the field because something happened.

The second biggest problem, is that it does not matter how many NIMS courses you attend or ratings you have, if the wings do not ensure they are written into exercises. An that when written in that they actually show up and deliver what has been promised.

I think what he is responding to is the statement about training above the standard.

If our SAR partners are looking for someone who know how to work "with canine search team" does not mean we shoud go out and get our own SAR dogs and have them ready to depoy.

We should of course always hone our skills and make sure our training is up to date and reflects the current state of the art....but a vague "train above the standard" does not really helps us....and in a way can hurt us if we are busy adding on addtional training but ignoring our basic training requirements.

What you say is true....up to a point.  We need to be engaged with our customers and potential customers and be ready to provide them with what they need.....but we also need to be aware of our core competencies and make sure that we fulfill them first and foremost.  Otherwise we may spend our time and money developing capabilities that may never be used....or we never figure out how to really use it correctly.

One word.....ARCHER.
