Is the laptop in the back the one where you prepare your next contract while overshooting your destination?  >:D

Very cool though, seems eerily spacious.

Anyone know what or who the extra seat behind the pilot is for?  I see a hatch that probably goes into some sort of maintenance area...

I also don't see an i-pod jack...

I believe on the Airbus the hatch leads to the pilots lounge and bar.

The "laptop" is actually the keyboard and screen for ACARS.

A zoom in of the laptop reads "ACMS RTM - System Parameter System"

ACMS stands for Aviation Computerized Maintenance System.

and actually the laptop IS the flight engineer.  The A380 is a 2 man cockpit.  The FE's were replaced years ago by diodes and, such.  Ask Phil, he is a former "plumber" in the AF.

Which is part of the ACARS. The ACMS RTM is the system that was sending all of those messages when Air France 770 went down in the Atlantic.

Yep, got replaced by a Data Bus and some CPU's. But Curtis LeMay did the same thing in 1955 with the KC-135A too.
The two person flight deck is nothing new.

Three jumpseats behind the pilots.  Could be used by pilots commuting, FAA inspectors (speaking from a US owned plane viewpoint), company checkairman, or by the relief pilots on long flights.  We use one extra pilot on flights over 8 hours and two extra pilots on flights over 12 hours.

That is very interesting.  I like the tail view camera.

What are the bumps on the center console
on each side of the engine throttles?

That is a good question....Maybe to prevent accidental movement of throttle, you have to press the button when making changes.

They appear to be hand rests for when you're entering data into the FMS. Nice to have a place to rest the heel of your hand when you're in turbulance.
