So I was going through my collection of all my cap IDs and the ones from 2010-14 had bar codes on them then from 2015-present they don't. Why? What was the intent of the bar codes.

The bar codes are the CAPID, and were a production aid in the printing process, to ensure the different bits all belonged to the same person. There is a fairly detailed discussion back in the archives if you search for "bar code".

Thanks I'll definitely look it up.

CAPID = The six digit number associated with your name, and which identifies you in the database.

CAP ID (or id) = the picture-bearing membership card you carry in your wallet.

The space makes a difference.
