I'm really excited about this Saturday. I'll be attending my first O'ride, early in the morning.

I think it will be a Cessna Skyhawk 172, do you think this will be fun?

Hoping to start logging flight hours and earn my license.

FlyTiger77

Yes, I do think you will have fun.

Enjoy it and let us know how it goes!

Alright thanks! Any tips?

And also, where do I log my flight hours? Should I print a sheet or is there an official booklet?

USAFAHopeful

O-Flights do not count as flight time so do not log them in towards earning your license.

Make sure to eat before you go! A lot of first time flyers don't eat beforehand, thinking that they might get sick. In actuality, an empty stomach will make you sicker! So grab a bite to eat first.

Enjoy the ride, you will do fine.

Enjoy the ride.  Eat something before you go. O rides really is a great program.

Ginger gum or ginger candy will help calm your tummy, too.

So does peanut butter.  (Learned that the hard way.)

Make a real impression on the pilot.  Make sure he/she will remember you for a long long time.  2 Chili Cheesedogs and a helping of strawberry ice cream about 30 minutes before flight should do it.

ARMY:  Because even the Marines need heros.
CAVALRY:  If it were easy it would be called infantry.

Why do all O-flight threads turn into airsickness conversations when 99.99999% of cadets never get queasy?

Because it's that 0.00001% that everyone remembers.

Yes, I have made a list of foods I will eat prior to getting on.

- 2 Waffles
- 3 Pancakes
- A Bagel with cream cheese
- 3 Mc Muffins
- 4 large hash browns
- 3 slices of french toast
- 3 cups of milk
- 4 Sausages
- 3 Cups of Apple Sauce
- An Apple with Caramel dipping sauce
- English Muffin
- 4 Greasy, heavily fried eggs
- 5 pieces of bacon
- 6 Oranges
- 2 Cups of Oatmeal
- 2 Bowls of Frosted Flakes
- 2 Blueberry Muffins
- And a diet coke (to prevent weight gain)

Do you think this will be enough? Not used to eating so little.

Also, do we receive parachutes?  ???

If you want to impress the pilot bring your own 1 gallon or bigger zip lock "just in case" bag!

AirAux

Back in the day, we were told to do it inside our flight suits and then zip them up.  I have seen a few that had to do so.  Pretty bad, although not as bad as what happens in an OH-13 with the doors off.  I saw that once and I think it took 4 hours to get it clean.

SarDragon

Since we're discussing barfing in flight, here's what to bring - a one quart Ziploc bag, with two paper towels in it. When you need to use the bag, remove one towel, and leave the other one in the bag. After "using" the bag, the towel in the bag will help minimize spillage, and you can use the other one to wipe your mouth/face. I usually carry two - one for me, and a spare for someone else.

And, there's really no shame in using the bag. Really.

No.

In the event of an in-flight emergency, open the door, step out and start flapping your arms.

The Pilot follows the AE syllabus so if it's flight one be up on what's in that syllabus. Your squadron should be able to provide that.
