Came across this today...
Based on historical information...
If we had 100 Cadets in our squadron, 15% or 15 of them would earn their Mitchell Award.
If we had 100 Cadets in our squadron, 5% or 5 of them would earn their Earhart Award.
If we had 100 Cadets in our squadron, 2% or 2 of them would earn their Eaker Award.
And now comes the BIG Surprise....
If we had 2,000 Cadets in our squadron.
0.05% or ONE SINGLE CADET would earn their SPAATZ Award.

Anyone care to speculate on why there is such a HUGE drop off from the cadets that make it to the Eaker to those very very very few who press on to the SPAATZ??

Because for Spaatz the tests are hard (and are not locally controlled.)... The CPFT
used to be harder than it is now... Because you only get three tries... Fail the third time and you are done... Because you need to complete all requirements before you turn 21 and some don't make it in time. Some cadets just don't want to get Spaatz... It's not the destination, it's the journey.
Besides... Most Spaatzen are dorks! :o

could is a more accurate statement. Goes along with what I have said previously about cadet promotions.
One of the 5% BTW. :)
These numbers are based on actual promotions in CAP over the years.
