very recent humorous history

. . ok this is not very historical yet, and it might not make the national archives, but i found it humorous.

. . earlier this month we had our wing conference. for the food selection for the banquet, we were issued tickets with a small picture representing our selection. our tickets had a picture of what resembled a chicken.

. . in the lounge afterwards, we were having a pretty good time getting to know members from around the wing. i watched as a lt col engaged my wife in conversation. her response, somewhat cool, was all he was going to get, but apparently not up to what he expected.

. . he vanished for a bit but reappeared, with one of our yellow chicken tickets protruding from under his lt col epaulet. he leaned over and, pointing at the ticket, in a most convincing voice, told her.....  i'm a full bird colonel now.

. . he got a well deserved smile from her. i was laffin mao.
