I'm building a new squadron website. On the public/recruiting side of things, I've planned a FAQ page. Thing is, I'm still new, so I'm not a great weath of knowledge here. So I want to tap the collective wisdom of CAPTalk on this.
In your experience, what things have you been asked over & over again through the years and what are the best answers to them? For both SM & cadet recruiting.
THANKS!!!!
1) What is CAP?
2) Do you go to war?
3) What do you do?
4) Are you a soldier?
5) Why do you do it?
6) How can I join?
7. Will I have to cut my hair?
8. How much does it cost?
Do you have to join the military?
Do you really use children on search and rescue?
What is the maximum age limit?

he he...I don't know how far that will get you, especially with me in the mix >:D
I usually get the random blurt questions from kids like:
Do you guys carry guns?
Do you go to Iraq?
Would I need to cut my hair?
Would I need to shave my half-grown peach fuzz moustache?
Will they make me do pushups?
From adults I usually get:
Am I too old? I usually respond with, "not unless you don't wake up tomorrow."
Do I need to shave my beard?
What cost is involved?
What do you do?
Is there an obligation?

Thats funny.
I always get asked "When do I get my unifrom?"
"Am I going to get yelled at?" I hear that a lot from the shyer, younger kids. And yah, the haircut one is a biggie. We actually had a cadet join up, and THEN ask if he had to cut his hair, and we told him yes, and he quit.
^Wow, that's sad. We had a cadet join who had 14" long hair that he'd pull out into large spikes sticking out of his head. He joined, the next week he was sporting a high and tight.
I'm noticing that the "cadet age" ones ask very specific questions: "do I need to cut my hair" and the "senior age" ones ask broader questions, "what are your missions?"
Now you have the Oompa Loompa song stuck in my head
[sorry Kristian, slight diversion...]
Oompa loompa doompety doo
I've got a perfect puzzle for you
Oompa loompa doompety dee
If you are wise you'll listen to me
What do you get when you guzzle down sweets
Eating as much as an elephant eats
What are you at, getting terribly fat
What do you think will come of that
I don't like the look of it
Oompa loompa doompety da
If you're not greedy, you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa Doompety do
Doompety do
Did that make it any better?
[end of diversion]

How are we different from the boyscouts?
What the uniform like?
Actually, just out of curiosity, what types of questions did you ask when you joined? Were they any of these?

How much and when can I start? :D
By the time I found out I could join, they had already told me all about the program in regards to my son wanting to sign up.
Question I asked:
I'm not a pilot...do you need me?
